The process of Non-Destructive Testing determines the existence of flaws, discontinuities, leaks, contamination, thermal anomalies, or imperfections in welded sections, materials, components or assemblies without impairing the integrity or function of the inspected component.
Non-Destructive Testing is becoming increasingly important to the design-through-manufacture process, life extension process of critical operating plant, condition monitoring. NDT is a quality assurance tool which can provide impressive results when used correctly. |

Mechanical Testing / Metallurgy involves the process in determining the physical properties of materials in welded sections, cast products, wrought products and components on a variety of materials. Mechanical Testing is used in such areas as product development, quality control and engineering including design, structural, civil and mechanical.Testing is carried out in a NATA accredited laboratory for conformance in accordance with both Australian and International standards or to client specification.

PWHT is defined as heat treatment done after welding/machining to improve the Chemical mechanical properties of Weldments / machined surfaces.

In concept, PWHT covers many different potential treatments. However, in steel fabrication, most common procedure used is Stress Relieving. Machining and/or Welding induce stresses in parts. The bigger and more complex the part, the more the stresses.
